a kind of tapered enlargement of the leg of a piece of furniture, common especially in Hepplewhite.
spade|foot «SPAYD FUT», noun, plural -foots. Also, spadefoot toad.
any one of a large group of toads of Europe, northern Africa, southern Asia, and North America that can burrow or dig deep holes quickly by means of a spadelike projection on the side of the foot.
